Gift of Giving

We live and work in a relatively affluent community but unfortunately affluence does not guarantee exemption from health issues.  They can affect anyone of us, at any time.

I’m sure we all know of someone who has come up against some form of health concern, some are physically debilitating, others life threatening and some silent and unseen.

As a local business with a strong community connection we try to do our bit to help out where we can, generally with sponsorship or donations, and usually for those who we know of or have some connection with.

Recently we went one better and in conjunction with our relationship with “UpLift in Kind” we took a local family flying, on us. 

The Craig’s daughter, Ida, was born with a heart condition.  Her parents found out when she was 9 months old.  One can only imagine how they felt!  

They are now part of Heart Kids NZ, a national organisation providing support for people with childhood heart conditions.  According to Heart Kids NZ they are always generous in doing things for others without asking for anything in return.  

A helicopter flight can be a once in a lifetime experience for people so we volunteered to give them something truly special, a family memory they will have for a lifetime.

It’s a an awesome feeling being able to do something for someone you don’t know but who you do know is deserving.   

Following in the footsteps of “Random Acts of Kindness Day”, if more people took the time to do something randomly nice for someone wouldn’t we all live in a better place!
